This developer-driven design-build project consists of a four-story, 150,000-square-foot stem cell research facility with laboratories, interactive research "pods", offices, administrative areas and an interconnecting classroom auditorium. The research building consists of cast-in-place concrete and the auditorium is made with long-span structural steel framing.

The Consortium is a collaboration between the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla Institute for Allergy & Immunology and the University of California, San Diego. The project was awarded LEED Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
