The library is a one-story, 13,000-square-foot steel-framed structure with lateral resistance provided by brace frames. A focal point for the community, it features traditional library resource rooms, areas for children, teens and adults, a computer lab, staff offices, workrooms and an outdoor Poet’s Patio, which overlooks an adjacent park.
The building structure features a unique roof comprised of multiple planes with varying slopes.

The Alpine Library is the County of San Diego’s first Zero Net Energy project and will serve as a prototype for future projects throughout the region.
