Cross Border Xpress Receives Another Award!

The San Diego chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers selected Hope-Amundson’s project Cross Border Xpress Terminal Building and Pedestrian Skybridge as the ASCE Region 9 Project of the Year. Hope-Amundson provided structural engineering services for the Terminal Building.

Designed by Stantec and Legorreta + Legorreta Architects and constructed by Turner Construction, Cross Border Xpress is the first facility to process ticketed air travelers across the United States-Mexico Border to the Tijuana International Airport. The steel-framed structure, comprised of a 61,000-square-foot Main Level and a 5,700-square-foot Second Level, integrates the function, security and amenities of a border crossing and an airline terminal into a high-end, iconic architectural design.

The project was also presented an Award of Merit at the ENR Global Best Project Awards during the 2016 Global Construction Summit in New York City in the Airport/Port category, and received an ENR Southern California Best Project Award in the same category.
